Business First of Buffalo: NY 2nd in public school spending - 2006-04-03

If only NY were second in achievement! Bookmark this article for every time Phil Rumore or the Superintendant or anyone else says that the answer to pur problems is more money. Meanwhile, Catholic Schools with test scores way above their public school counterparts are closing because the death grip the unions have on state legislators. It is criminal . . .

Ah, no dummy. Catholic schools are closing because they are losing enrollment. Jesus.

At least that one was a little funny anonymous. CAtholic schools are losing enrollment because of the cost to attend. We pour millions into the cesspool of state run education, using formulas that tie funding to the student, however the money is stationary - it is stuck with the state run schools - it does not follow the child to the school of their choice.

50 years ago there were police blocking the doors to keep poor black children out of public schools. Today we have special interest groups blocking the door so they can't leave.

Right, they are more costly to run becasue they are losing enrollment. Chicken or the egg?

As in everything, you get what you pay for. More money for the educators would be a big help. Retain quality teachers with better pay.
